Graham Cracker Houses

Christmas is not complete without graham cracker houses. and guess who has never made one?- chris hasnt. we only made one house and each did half. while we were making it we didnt let each other see how we were decorating our side. i couldnt believe we both did cute-lovey- dovey things with our side.

Pumpkin Walk

I use to go to the pumpkin walk every year when i lived in Logan and it had been a few years since i had gone. so i thought Chris and I should head up this year and make a day of it. we visited the USU "A," went to eat at El Sol, found these new bull statues along main st, visited my friend Brooke, and finally ended up at the pumpkin walk. however, the pumpkin walk is crazy busy now. we had to wait in line for an hr to get in. i asked someone about it and apparently it was featured on the news so now everyone comes out to it.

8th- Callie, kids, and I went down to my dads because part of his basement flooded and he needed some help. Callie didnt bring extra clothes so she were dads. so here she is looking like our dad.

We headed up to the Golden Spike today- once we got up there it got cloudy and sprinkled throughout the day. This is wear the East and West railroads met. We made it in time to see the reenactment. Afterwards we ate subway sandwiches.

We went up American Fork Canyon for some BBQ with Jers fam (minus Brennan who was with Erins parents) and we taught Ava how to play skip-bo.

We went up American Fork Canyon where we had a picnic and stopped at Cascade Springs- where i got stung by a bee :(. We then came out at Provo Canyon and stopped at Bridal Veil Falls.

August Fun

 

8/16- Quilting night at Erins moms house with Erin and Callie.

8/21 Babysitting A, B, and K- we went out for ice cream cones.

8/23 Last movie at the Capitol for the season but the weather was bad so they had the movie inside the Capitol instead of outside. It ended up not being the best idea bc it was squishy and a terrible echo when the movie started. We watched Hotel Transylvania which I had never seen and bc of the echo it was hard to follow but still fun. I'm glad they didn't cancel the show bc i had been planning on this for 2 months and it was fun to go with the Adams' and Gerbers (minus Chloe and Rayson)

8/24 Mini Golfing! Chris and I had been talking about going for months. Chris hadn't been in at least 10 yrs and I made a Hole in One! Chris won by 1 point so I have to go see the movie "the pacific rim" with him which i have no desire of seeing.

Hoover Dam

 

So I haven't spent too much time in Vegas and Ive never been there in the evening before so that was a new experience and I never new the Hoover Dam was only 40 minutes away.  We first hit up the Vegas sign for a pic then headed on our way. We stopped for lunch at an overlook of Lake Mead then off to the Dam. We decided not to pay to get into the visitor center or take a tour which maybe is lame of us but, oh well. We walked across the dam and I had to have a picture of me in 2 states at once! It was sure a hot day and when we got back to the car I realized it was easier to put water into a bag of ice instead of the other way around.

Vegas Baby!

Chris had some time off from school and my Dr was out of town so we headed down to Vegas on the 6th.  and somewhere along the drive the grille from car fell off :( 

 

my friend, Mandi, who i met my freshman yr of college lives down there with her family. so i ditched Chris for a few hrs to meet up with her. Mandi and I went out to lunch then i was able to chat with her husband and finally met her daughter, Stacia. it was so fun seeing and chatting with Mandi- the last time i saw her was just before she got pregnant.

Then Chris and I headed to the strip. We even went on the New York roller coaster but we were not impressed and it gave me a headache. We saw the Sphinx and Pyramid but. hey, nothing compares when I've actually seen the real deal.

Strawberry Days

 

-I started off the day with getting a nail in my tire so that kinked my style. We dropped my car off at the tire place (which they fixed for free!) and then Callie, Raylie, and I went to get Jambas and walk around the mall. That Raylie is sure cute in her fake red glasses.

-That evening Chris and I headed to Pleasant Grove for the Strawberry Days Rodeo where i get yummy Strawberries and Cream!! and it was Chris' first Rodeo!!!

Outside Weekend

 

-Friday we went to this little sculpture park called Gilgal Sculpture and to the Chalk Art Festival at the Gateway.
-Saturday we headed to orem for Hukulia Shaved Ice and to the Scera Shell to see the play Tarzan

-we've had a new roommate since Feb, who we really like, but i have never hung out with her outside our house. i had tickets to the ReAl game tonight, however, we decided that we didn't want to be wet and cold bc of the rain. so we headed to the sugarhouse $1 theater to see Oz, what a weird/odd movie- despite that we had a fun night filled with muddy buddies, soda, and a slurpee.

we only planned on the little hike to the lake but all the hikers up there told us it was worth the hike to the waterfall as well. it was a longer hike than everyone told us as well. by the time we got to the top we were starving. we stayed for maybe 15-20 min then headed back down. once we got passed the boulder/rock covered- 1/4 of the trail- we cruised down that mountain. i believe it was all together a 5-6 mile hike. it was a fun outdoor adventure!

and hello to my new 2011 Toyota Corolla S!!!

 

my previous car was a 2000 manual chevy prism which has been a wonderful reliable car! i've been thinking about getting a new car for a while but never was super serious about it until i was in my first car accident -a fender bender- in dec and jacked up the front of my car. we were able to get the hood squished back down but it was tricky to open and i lost the covers to my blinker lights. and then every week after something else seemed to break on my car, the last 2 weeks my right blinker stopped working which made me paranoid driving. so i was sooo ready when i finally got my car.

things i required for my new car: automatic, cruise control, the middle seat in the back row needed a head rest, and rear window defrost (it should be illegal to not have rear defrost but my chevy didn't have it). my new car also has automatic windows/locks, heated side mirrors (i didn't even know that existed), volume controls on the steering wheel, and i feel spiffy that on my car key i can hold down a button and my trunk pops open. it still feels weird that this is MY car and a huge adult purchase! i even have my own car insurance. (previously i was on my dads)

 

Snowshoeing

I've been wanting to go snowshoeing again this winter but weather and schedules were never working out. today it was a last minute decision and it turned out great. it didn't start snowing until we were leaving. it was a beautiful day. i enjoyed being outdoors and having a picnic.
